Very Rare Berliner-Victor-Gramophone phonograph

This phonograph is very similar to the No3. Gramophone illustrated in the 1903 French Gramophones catalogue.

( see Fabrizio and Paul's book: A world of Antique Phonographs, page 10 - 11)

It's the French version of the Victor A. By this time it had a larger spring and spring barrel, and a special brake to accommodate the play of the new 10 inch records. The motor is a bit noisy but plays a 10 inch disc through after winding.

History: For years this phonograph has  been on display in the Drake collection ( Midwest Phonograph Museum ) until this was sold in 1994. Than the machine moved to a collector in Belgium where it has been ever since.

For me it's the first time I have seen this rare model, so be your own judge by looking at all the pictures.

Nickel plated tin horn, has some dents but is in good condition for it's age.

Probably a professional repair has been done on the centre spindle top.

Good clear and loud sounding Cie Française du Gramophone Concert sound-box N° F 10764

Cie Française du Gramophone - Paris decal

In my opinion the brake is a reproduction cause there is a spare part left of what must have been a pot metal brake.

Original leather elbow

I also can't explain the use of the 4 holes that were drilled in the wood board.
